Five Miles on the Atlantic with John Rogers on Leadership, Growth, and Trust

My good friend and colleague John Rogers and I took an early morning 5-mile Dialogue Miles™ walk along the Atlantic last week.

As always, the conversation moved in many directions but stayed centered on family, driving growth, remaining competitive by being aggressive, and taking care of the people in your business. After several years of driving M&A at Grenadier Holdings, John has since become the CEO of Paragon ID where I am a Strategic Consultant in North America.

A Few Things That Stayed with Me

  • Be Ready
Stay active in the market by maintaining relationships and refining your message.

  • Portfolio Balance
We will always have aging products that are either obsolete or dealing in value. Leadership in a business requires making tough choices at the right time.

  • Leadership Alignment
Clarity of roles and clear focus on the true priorities is critical regardless of the business or region in which we operate.

  • Relationships and Consistency
You cannot always be in the room or the voice delivering the message. Getting the right people on your team creates a multiplier effect.

  • Trust Compounds
The experiences that John and I have as we work together in growing the market really demonstrate the power of trust.
