Dialogue Miles™ at Microsoft with Six Conversations That Stuck

At the COS25 event at Microsoft headquarters in Redmond, hosted by the Chief of Staff Association, I had the privilege of facilitating a Dialogue Miles™ walking session as part of the event. During lunch, six people approached me, each wanting to take a walk around the track.

What struck me most was the genuine enthusiasm from attendees. I was honored that they chose to spend time with me, given I hadn’t met them previously. I took turns walking with each person, taking multiple laps around the track, and having inspiring conversations.

A Few Things That Stayed with Me

  • People choose connection
Given the option, people will step into conversation when the environment feels open and real.

  • Movement changes the dialogue
Walking creates a different kind of interaction. More relaxed. More honest. More human.

  • Every conversation lands differently
The impact is not uniform. Each person takes something different away from the experience.

A big shoutout and thank you to my walking companions, Jessica (Dunbar) MacGregor, Yoshita Sharma, Ali McKenzie, Terrance Berland, Jennifer Vaden Barth, and Marie Kaufmann.

These moments reminded me of the power of connection through movement and conversation, and reminded me of what I already believed to be true, the impact this can have looks different for each person!
