Three Miles Through Opry Mills and Years of Catching Up

David Mannarino and I reconnected last week in Nashville, coming in from New York and Detroit after first meeting years ago at the FDIC International tradeshow while working with LION. We ended up on a rainy 3-mile Dialogue Miles™ walk through Opry Mills Mall, Pearl Jam was playing in the city, and we capped the evening with dinner alongside Ann Howard at Margot Café.

Takeaways from the Walk

  • A health focus brings a clear perspective.

  • Global experience stretches our sense of what's possible—and what really matters.

  • Aging parents create important context.

  • Unexpected meetings often lead to the most meaningful connections.

  • When we slow down and prioritize family, we can have an influence far beyond ourselves by being in the moment.

  • Building meaningful relationships take time and trust.

  • Connecting on a 1:1 walk deepens the relationship faster/better than a one-hour office meeting.

Grateful for the time, the conversation, and the reminder. Some of the most impactful work we do starts with showing up fully present.
