Leadership Alignment Through Movement: Dialogue Miles at Hudson Farm
Recently, Anna Brown and I had the opportunity to spend time with Stephen Bonventre and the senior leadership team at Edgar Agents (EA) for an offsite gathering at Hudson Farm.
On the second day, we introduced a new twist to Dialogue Miles™ by moving the experience outdoors and incorporating hands-on activities. Movement changed the energy immediately.
People relaxed. Laughter showed up. Perspectives surfaced that might not have appeared inside a traditional meeting room. When leaders step outside familiar environments, conversations tend to shift as well.
The group brought curiosity, openness, and a willingness to experiment with something different.
Observations from the Experience
Several themes emerged as the activities unfolded:
High energy and joy across the group
A wide range of perspectives and experiences represented
Willingness to try new things together
Vulnerability emerging through shared, creative challenges
Sarcasm and competitiveness intersecting in laughter
A simple but effective mindset: aim at the target, regardless of its shape or type
Those shared experiences naturally flowed into our Joe with Joe™ roundtable conversations, where we slowed the pace and shifted from activity into dialogue.
The movement created connection. The dialogue created depth.
