A Chance Meeting That Turned Into a Walk with Dana Downs

I walked 4 miles along the streets of Dayton with my new friend Dana Downs. After our walk, we had a meal with Dana’s wife Katherine who is also amazing, and agreed that Nashville, Boston, and Portland are in our future. Dialogue Miles™

The story behind the Dana and Joe connection began on a bar stool at hashtag#HotelDistil in Louisville. I was having dinner on a Sunday evening while on a business trip and a woman sat down next to me and ordered some wine, not just any wine but the Rombauer Chardonnay from Rombauer Vineyards.

That was the first connection, as my mother-in-law Nancy Rihtarchik loved that wine. So, while Nanny is no longer here, that night a new friend appeared that has since made me laugh so hard, challenged me to think big, and realize that the story ain’t over. And that’s how I first met Dana, pretty incredible!

A Few Things That Stayed with Me

  • Say Hello
It is simple. But it changes everything to simply say Hi to the person next to you!

  • Common Ground Shows Up Quickly
Dana and I found that it turns out we have much in common – Dayton, Alter High School, golfing, love for good food, and the gift of storytelling.

  • New Friendships Expand Your Life
When you make new friends, it amplifies the potential of your life.
