Five Years Later, a Walk with Mike Patenaude in the Nations

I first met Mike Patenaude during my search for office space in Nashville, TN. After a few months, siY, LLC found it’s home at Office Evolution Greater Nashville in the Nations. Beyond finding a great space, my experience at Office Evolution has been great on so many levels and has fostered friendships within the small business community.

After 5+ years, Mike and I finally took to the streets for a 3.5-mile Dialogue Miles™ walk around the Nations on a chilly Tuesday afternoon. Along the way, we stopped into a few small businesses simply to say hello.

The dialogue was fun and made me wonder, why did it take so long to make this happen?

A Few Things That Stayed with Me

  • Be Grateful
Life has a way of placing us exactly where we are meant to be. A small gesture can shift someone’s entire day.

  • Human Connection
Virtual work has its place, but real interaction creates energy that cannot be replicated.

  • Sorting Out the Future
Having someone who listens without trying to solve everything creates space to think more clearly.

  • Verbalizing
Talking things through helps process what matters. Sometimes one walk leads to another conversation that needs to happen.

  • Sharing Insights
There is a difference between sharing perspective and telling someone what to do. One creates space. The other closes it.

A life journey can feel so imperfect sometimes until you have a dialogue with someone who has lived in so many places, served his country, and been an entrepreneur. You realize that a journey is not supposed to always be on a paved road.
